Cooling Tax Credits & Rebates

Through Tampa Electric’s Heating & Cooling program, families may be eligible to receive special rebates for qualifying system upgrades and installations. When replacing an old, inefficient unit with a new, energy-efficient system that satisfies the program’s energy-saving standards, you may earn a rebate of $135.

As of January 3, 2023, the qualifying Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER or SEER2) for cooling systems to be eligible for a rebate has changed. Here are the requirements for an air conditioner or heat pump to qualify for the rebate program:

• Installations performed before April 1, 2023, must have a SEER of 15.00 (SEER2 of 14.30) or greater to be eligible for the rebate.
• Installations performed after April 1, 2023, must have a SEER of 16.00 (SEER2 of 15.20) or greater to be eligible for the rebate.

All Florida residents who are also customers of Tampa Electric are eligible to take advantage of the program. To redeem the rebate, complete the Heating & Cooling program application and provide your Tampa Electric account number. Applications must be submitted within 90 days of installation completion to be considered.

Electrical Tax Credits & Rebates

Along with cooling system installations, there are some electrical rebates for which Florida residents may qualify, including:

Smart Thermostat Installations

ENERGY STAR® labeled smart thermostats installed in your Florida home may be eligible for a $50 rebate through Tampa Electric's Smart Thermostat rebate program. Customers must complete the rebate application within 90 days of their smart thermostat purchase and provide the following information:

• Paid receipt/invoice of the new model
• Photo of the smart thermostat showing its ENERGY STAR® label
• Photo of the smart thermostat installed on the wall

Pool Pump Installations

Tampa Electric customers who install an ENERGY STAR® certified pool pump can receive a $350 rebate. Once more, customers must complete the Pool Pump rebate application within 90 days of their purchase to be considered. Along with their application, they must provide the following information:

• Paid receipt/invoice of the new model
• Photo of the installed pool pump displaying the ENERGY STAR® label
